Egypt Makes History, Wins Women’s MiniFootball World Cup in Erbil
Erbil witnessed the finale of the Women’s MiniFootball World Cup on Monday evening, September 22, 2025. The event was held in a festive atmosphere at the Handrin Club Stadium, with a large crowd in attendance, led by the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Mr. Masrour Barzani, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Dosari, President of the International Mini-Football Federation, along with a number of senior officials, including the Minister of Culture, Mr. Hama Saeed, and the Minister of Interior, Mr. Rebar Ahmed.
The final match brought together the Egyptian and Brazilian national teams, ending in a 1-1 draw in regular time. The match went to penalty kicks, which the Pharaohs won 3-2. Players Yara Sabri, Amal Hussein, and Sally Mansour excelled in scoring the decisive kicks, leading the Egyptian team to the global podium.
At the closing ceremony, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the President of the International Federation of Women’s Football presented the trophy and medals to the winning teams. Egypt took first place, Brazil took second place, and Lebanon finished third after a resounding 5-0 victory over the Kurdistan Regional Government in the third-place match.
