The Iraq women’s national minifootball team made a spectacular start to their World Cup campaign, crushing Jordan 13–0 in the tournament’s opening match on Wednesday evening at Cihan University Stadium in Erbil.
From the opening minutes, Iraq asserted complete control, racing to a commanding 6–0 lead by halftime. The dominance continued after the break, as the hosts added seven more goals to seal a historic victory in their first-ever appearance at the competition.
Iraq’s goals came from Sibaal Shukr, who delivered a remarkable four-goal haul (super hat-trick), along with braces from Barza Nizam, Derin Mahmoud, and Naveen Saeed. Additional goals were scored by Awaz Younis, Shelan Abdullah, and Elaf Hossam Al-Din.
The match was attended by prominent sporting figures, including Serdar Ismail, Director General of Sports in the Kurdistan Region, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Dosari, President of the International Minifootball Federation (IMF), both of whom praised the organization and the festive atmosphere of the opening day.
The tournament continues today with a much-anticipated clash between Egypt and Pakistan, scheduled for 4:00 PM.
